The journal

The Crabapple Post is a reader's journal about housing in Atlanta's northern suburbs: Alpharetta, Roswell, Milton, Johns Creek, Crabapple, Cumming and Woodstock. The journal keeps a dated survey of what it learns walking the same streets, reading the same county records and sitting through the same closings its readers do.

What the survey carries

Every note in the survey is a dated page kept in one of four field books. Buying covers what it costs and what it takes to purchase here: prices, offers, inspections, loans. Selling covers the other side of the table: pricing, preparation, timing. The towns walks the places themselves, the neighborhoods, the school lines, the zoning that decides what a street can become. The market reads the numbers that sit underneath all of it.

How a note is checked

Each note is written by the journal's editor and read a second time before it is published. Figures are checked against published county and market sources, place names against maps and parcel records, and anything the journal cannot confirm stays out. Sources are named at the foot of every piece.

When the survey is wrong

When a note gets something wrong, the correction runs with its own date. Nothing is quietly rewritten: a note that changes says so, the way a field book keeps its own amendments.

A note on addresses

This journal occupies an address that once belonged to a local real-estate agent's personal site. The name, the people and the client relationships of the former site are not ours and are not continued here. What we kept is the subject, the northern suburbs and the homes in them, because that is where our readers live.
